Thanks for that informative video, very well said. I just feel that it’s important people should also understand that the quality of calories consumed is just as important as the quantity. If a chocoholic watched this video and adhered to the advice of – “eat the foods you like, just eat less of them”, then they would eat less chocolate. Yes, the quantity of calories determines whether you gain or lose weight but the quality of calories determines what weight you will gain or lose.

I agree with everything here except for your definition of a diet. a diet doesn’t have to mean a decrease in calories. diet is simply the sum of food consumed by a person or organism. As far as the rest of the video goes, I agree 100%. Calorie deficit = weight loss, calorie surplus = weight gain, calorie equillibrium = weight doesn’t change

It is true that you can’t out-train a lousy diet. However, cardio is certainly NOT a joke. I do it every day when I’m trying to lose fat and I’m extremely lean.
High intensity cardio whether it be interval training or steady state, will go along way towards enabling you to get lean in record time. This in conjunction with a calorie restricted diet and three full-body strength training sessions a week will melt the pounds and inches.

Regardless of the exact calculation the point is well made. You can ALWAYS out-eat the amount that you burn with cardio training. Even with metabolic resistance training where you have a much longer after-burn effect, you still can’t out train a bad diet. I have to stress this to my clients all the time because often folks feel that if they train hard they can get away with eating whatever they want!

This actually does makes sense. The main point their trying to make is to at least eat less, or eat better. But that guy just burned himself out and only lost like 40 calories.

Love it! People, what they are trying to say is that it is a heck of a lot easier to skip the pizza or other high-cal foods than to try to burn it off with cardio.

diet alone wont get rid of the body fat.30+ min a day cardio with proper nutrition will.
I certainly don’t agree with his sentiment that “cardio is a joke.” It enabled me to get down to five percent body fat. However, Craig is right in that you cannot out-train a lousy diet.
Just think about it. I can “inhale” one thousand calories in about fifteen minutes simply by consuming a few pieces of pizza. However, it will take me a sizable amount of time to burn off those same one thousand calories. The fact is it is much easier to gain fat then lose it.

Point is you can workout, but if you think you can eat crap as areward you are prob. taking in more than you burned off. Cardio is great for the heart. Video isn’t discouraging exercise, but encouraging exercising w/ a good diet.
